This is not a romance book it is a book about abuse. He is a horrible man who is physically and emotionally violent with her. I hate that a female army officer is painted as a doormat who doesn't have the basic sense to fight her abuser be it a husband or a family friend. It is infuriating to read that this is categorized as a romance book when no reader should think of it that way. THIS IS NOT ROMANCE.

My mother was an IAS officer. In office she was the boss. Every one did what she said. At home she did what my dad and grandmother said. She asked dad for pin money!!! Her salary. She had no control of. Or so she accepted. Weird but true.

Sucks that this is how most women in our society used to be, but happy to see it changing. And yeah, the weird acceptance of it all is so confounding to the next gen
