The narration is given in a matter of fact kind of way, which kind of works when things pick up beyond the 20% mark, but before that it gives the novel an unnecessary drag as the narrator seems to drone

Excellent narrator in Robin Miles but this one might be a miss. Ugh

I saw a GR friend read this. LOVED the cover. Looked it up. It's a short story, 26 kindle pages currently available as of 2/16/26 on amazon for FREE, so I picked it up!
I am noting it here so if others are interested they can get it too. Regular price was marked as 0.99 but I mean, FREE is better than a dollar, right?

Thank you, Lisa!

The detailed background of gynecology and obstetrics in the US medical field, education, training, learning and moving forwards in medicine, is pretty great. While I knew the basic, women were kicked out of midwifery and disallowed into medical school as well as the brutal testing on black and non European women, the details are eye opening and delivered well.

Spelunking is not a word I expect to be used in conjunction with gynecology, but here we are.

What a great narration. She softens her tone for the descriptive parts. Given them a thoughtful tone as if she’s telling a story to a group of Easter listeners at the fireside. It’s beautiful.

Nice soliloquy at the end. I finished it as it was a book club read and due to it's history, but pretty meh.
I do like the explanation of the story and one of the words, at the end. Interesting.
