This went from so good to so eurgh really fast with the sheer amount of borderline US military propaganda chucked in here within the last 5%. Gross, no thank you.

This is exactly what I needed after my last read was utterly boring. Deacon and Willow are a delight and the humour is 10/10. Absolutely loving it so far.

I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t getting a little bored. The writing is desperately trying to force the idea of THERE’S DEFINITELY CHEMISTRY HERE OK?!?! and there’s simply not. These two women cannot stand each other as people, to the point that Darcy is actually an insufferable, patronising prick. I know that’s the point as a loose adaptation of P&P but it’s not done well in a modern setting.

I can’t get over how good this is, I love Jolene and Cliff’s conversations and their bond. I love to hate Caitlin with everything in my soul. I love all the nuances each character has, like the truth behind Rhonda’s bragging etc. It is a perfect book, truly.

This is so witty, reading this is like getting all the office tea without worrying you’re being a prick, and knowing HR aren’t going to fire you. It’s such a unique plot, and I’m actively desperate to read one character’s downfall. It’s so engaging!

Suuuuch an interesting concept so far, with plenty of crumbs left to intrigue for what’s to come. Loving it already!

I’m crying already what the HELL

A plot twist already? How luxurious!

Effing hell I thought we were starting to go somewhere positive with this and it’s sent us crashing back into a dark place. I know it’s meant to be a sad book but we need SOME hope.

This is utterly incredible yet so so sad, so much so that it’s making it hard to get through. I really want to finish this because I’m loving it but chriiiiist.

DNF - He’s too much of a misogynist and she’s just kinda nothing-y. I want to try again at some point purely because it’s Elsie Silver, but for now, hell no.

What an utter delight this book is, despite being so cynical and sad. I have seen the film so I know what’s to come, but I’m thoroughly enjoying this as its own original thing. I also needed this after having a couple of DNFs before this.

This man is a massive misogynist and I hope for only the worst things for him. He’ll get the girl and whatever but I wish he wouldn’t.

Smashed out half of this today, because it’s Hollanov. God I love Ilya, and his plot progression here is NOT what I expected at all for this pairing’s sequel. I just wanna give him a big hug. Also, is Shane ok? Does he intentionally have an ED in the plot? Or is this autistic scran vibes? I love them when they’re together either way, but would like Ilya to have more success on the ice with Ottawa.

So Fabian’s bestie says “Fabian don’t give Ryan an ultimatum, it’s not fair”. 2 mins later, Fabian gives Ryan an ultimatum and doesn’t understand why Ryan is offended by it. Nahhh, Fabian is being self-centered AF and I’ve really gone off him. Not how I wanted this to end, it was going so well.

Oh bless you, Ryan Price. You are an angel and I’m glad you had your little moment of allowing yourself to feel your oats.

This is already adorable though Ryan’s self-deprecation is so incredibly sad. I understand why though!

It’s had a minor slog section, but it’s picking up again and I’m already adoring the connection between Tova and Cameron. He needs someone like Tova. I do wonder if Cameron is her grandson, biologically. Like did Erik get Daphne pregnant? Hmm.

Already absolutely adoring this, after needing something of quality after my last 2 very mid reads.

I’m rooting for Charlie. I’m outright not rooting for Dev. He’s not a good person, and he’s not fighting for basic things that are morally right. He just doesn’t care and he’s a selfish prick and EURGH I DONT LIKE THIS FLIPPING BOOK.

As someone who has anxiety struggles with anything to do with bones (cracking knuckles, being able to see prominent bones on someone etc), every time Charlie describes Dev’s body as having sharp hips, sharp this, sharp that, I wanna launch the Kindle at the flipping wall. But I mean, that’s a me-specific fear to be fair.

Dear god, if it isn’t confirmed in this book that Charlie has autism I’m gonna be annoyed cos it would be PERFECT representation if so! Lovely start, and an interesting complex character to read the perspective of. I just need it to be canon that he is neurospicy.

I genuinely can’t tell if we’re meant to root for Blake, cos he’s the absolute worst. I hate Whitney less than I hate Blake and I don’t think that’s meant to be the intention. Hell, I even hate Krista. She’s so flipping stupid.

This is so weird, I’m not sure I like it. It’s definitely my least favourite out of the 4 Frieda McFadden books I’ve read/am reading. At least it’s quick.

It started as legendary as I expected but the plot is certainly much slower as I’ve gotten into it. It’s still incredible though and I’m glad I’ve chosen a classic to finish my Goodreads goal.

The funny thing about this book is that it’s a million times better than the first one in terms of writing quality and plot progression (and I loved book 1), yet this feels so much slower reading it?! No idea how. Despite this it’s a 5* from me so far, Shane and Ilya deserve all the hype they’re getting at the moment and the way Russia is discussed is well done.

I didn’t know it was possible to write a more “you’re meant to hate the main character” kinda book more so than How To Kill Your Family but yep…this is it. June is HEINOUS, and it’s going to be wild reading her story from her perspective.

It’s frankly evil and unfair that it’s gone midnight and have to go to bed at this point in the book. How the eff am I meant to sleep NOW?! God this is so flipping good.
