So far so good 👌. I like the idea of a maid being the narrator of Catherine the Great’s life.. This is
my third novel on Russian empresses this year. - By picking a random book at the airport somehow I ended up being dragged in to the rabbit hole of Russian court drama and Romanov dynasty. 🤓

When a book disrupts my sleep routine, I call it a good book 🤓☝️

What a great read so far! Only half way, but already decided to do more reading on history of Romanov dynasty 👌

Re-reading one of my favorite books of all time before meeting Abraham Verghese next month at his new book promo event. Next step - to have my “Cutting for Stone” signed :)

I am a big fan of “Cutting for Stone”. Let’s get one more of Verghese’s book under the belt before meeting the author in May when he comes to our city promoting his new book

Looking promising
Liking the continuous unraveling of personal histories, dry humor and sarcasm in dialogues..
only 13% into it, but something is telling me that they will make a TV series of it..

It may end up being DNF… just too slow, too over-written.. in beautiful, poetic, richest Russian that one can find these days, but, bloody hell, give me some action!! Will try to give it another push, after the breathtaking Zuleikha, giving up on Yakhina’s book almost feels like betrayal…

This is my sixth book of John Boyne and just as the other five it has captured my attention from first pages. I have no doubt that this will be yet another great story all the way to the end. BUT WHY OH WHY, this perfectionist of an author made such a mess of Russian names and patronymics that derive from them that defy any rules of Russian grammar?! Never thought that I will see such blunders in Boyne’s books :(

Does John Boyne ever disappoint? :)

Hmmm… this book certainly has capacity to become the most intelligent, thought provoking and enlightening read of my year so far… Ploughing on!

Ok, if this soapy obsessive teenage drooling is not going to evolve into something more mature and tangible I am going to give up... all the praise and high ratings simply can not be for THIS. Please tell me that there is something better ahead... Committing to 5% more meanwhile
