I’m on page eight and so far we’ve been told to imagine a dramatic tone and a “drama moment”. We can’t idk, describe the dramatic tone or the drama moment or what a bedroom might look like in 1977, no instead we’re just telling the reader that’s what it is… ok

There is so much in the info dumping that I’d like to have actually read about instead of just being told it happened. I’m getting antsy

The info dump in this book is wiiiiild. I would have loved to learn all this through exploration of the world, or conversations with other characters.
There’s a lot of redundancy within the info dump which is kind of the worst part but I am really enjoying this so far.

DNF - Ugh life is too short to read shitty books, this man STILL hasn’t told her the truth. He’s all worried about being sure she’s sober for their first time and it’s like THE BARE MINIMUM is supposed to make up for the fact that he’s *checks notes* still lying to her about the circumstances surrounding her fathers death and treating her like a child.

THIS WHOLE BOOK SHES BEEN ALL “you can’t buy me” AND NOW SHES ALL “name your price”????

It’s like the author wrote all the spicy scenes separately before this book was written and just plugged them in as this book was being written. The characters in the Spivey scenes are completely different from what they’ve been the rest of the book 🙄
