Sommige zinnen lezen vrij amateuristisch, maar daardoor is het ook een heel intiem bundeltje eigenlijk. Murdoch schreef deze gedichtjes niet om ze samen te stellen en te publiceren, maar gewoon aan mensen in haar leven, en dat is heel lief en leuk.
