This book manages a good balance between brutal but not gratuitous.

Humorous YA fantasy in the vein of Shrek and Princess Bride? Gimme! Farrar, Straus and Giroux beat the speed record in arc approval, first time I get approved same day as I requested. 💖

I like the fast paced, short chapters so far.

The yearning in this book beats so many popular romances because at least here were can understand why they think this relationship would endanger their jobs or complicate their life or people would judge them etc. Authors, it's not that hard to actually create an obstacle to a relationship... cough, "The Second Death of Locke". Damn, I hated that one so much.

Fmc reads very YA, she's young, mouthing off, sassy, quippy, with a chip on her shoulder... (This is an observation not a criticism. I tend to like lots of YA books.)

Eagerly awaiting for chapter 4... ⏰

Time to read this overdue arc so maybe Saga lets me out of the doghouse...

I've just read before a RH with five-somes and every kink under the sun, and yet, this is the most erotic book I've read all year. No kidding.

I think it's brilliant that female alphas and male omegas are possible, but rare, because that makes both characters feel like they "don't fit in" into their primary/secondary gender combo. I always craved OV being used as a commentary on gender expectations rather than doubling down on the stereotypes, and finally someone DID write it.

Now I understand what people mean by "voice dripping off the page". We don't just learn about the protagonist. We can palpably feel her loneliness and the attitude of toughing it through. It's so damn visceral.

Falling into a coma might be a part of og Snow White, but my, isn't it boring plot-wise. Ngl at this part the main conflict seems resolved and we're just dragging deflated tension balloon behind us. I'm tempted to skim the last 30 pages just to finish this... Also why is a 300-page book 7.99$, what a ripoff.

I seriously requested this because it gives a Karlach/Astarion romance vibe.

But also, it feels the are more typos in this one than a usual fare even though it was in editing until nearly release day...
