I wasn't sure how I'd like a whole book focused on Britt-Marie, but I have to say, I already love it!

I'm fascinated (in a horrified kind of way) that women could be jailed for waywardness or incorrigibility - particularly that parents would have their daughters jailed for it. From pp. 9-10: "Young women were being locked up for months, and possibly years, over offences that amounted to little more than leaving their parents' home without permission, or carrying on with an unsuitable man."

This sort of reminds me of a Mary Stewart story, but modernized.

Wasn't expecting the element of magic realism in this but am enjoying this one so far - definitely needed something a bit lighter!
