I read this book once a year and it’s always so interesting to see what themes my brain like to pick up one. Intellectualization of violence seems to be the ticket this time around.

Listen I’m deep into this universe at this point, I think I just auto purchase these books I don’t even know if I enjoy them.

So you find a crypt with creepy depictions of ritualistic killings that seem to be happening at your school. Question for the class what’s the first thing you do? Tell the police about it? Yeah one would think instead tweedle dumb and tweedle dumber DECIDE TO HAVE REOCCURRING STUDY DATES IN THE MURDER CRYPT!! All those big words coming out of your mouth with no brain cells to rub together. Get it together people.

Karin single handedly saving my summer reading slump - she’s firmly back in small town cop territory and I am thrilled. Per usual sucked me in within the first couple of pages, she never lets me down.

This is a lighter narrative of Homer’s epic but I’m not being lulled to sleep by iambic pentameters so objectively a fair trade.

Kathleen Early you never fail to make me cry.

I originally read the physical copy of this book, this was the first Karin Slaughter book I did to listen to via audiobook. Kathleen Early’s commitment to playing each and every one of Karin’s characters really brings these books to life for me. I’ve been enjoying to audiobook re-read of this.
