this month’s bookclub book! will be audiobooking

have had this on the go in the background for the past month, or something. has been my occasional breakfast read, waiting room read, bus and bus stop read, and just felt like it read. always something interesting to delve into. didn’t quite realise it’d be on here

also started this the other day, as i needed something to read on the train to mark william lewis, that i could also feasibly carry in my bag while dancing. and the vollmann 600+ pages tome was not going to cut it - despite how teasingly close i am to finishing it.

already enjoying the the metaphysical unease and restlessness found in this. that encounter with the ‘devil’ on the train is a gripping start

this is the month’s bookclub read and, i guess, my work fridge/out-and-about audiobook listen. i had forgotten quite how intoxicating highsmith’s prose is; it feels almost like the literary equivalent of carol’s beloved scotch - smokey with a fierce burn. i must read some more of her novels after this

will be listening to the audiobook of this while stocking the fridge at work; this month’s book club pick. compelling so far
