this is the month’s bookclub read and, i guess, my work fridge/out-and-about audiobook listen. i had forgotten quite how intoxicating highsmith’s prose is; it feels almost like the literary equivalent of carol’s beloved scotch - smokey with a fierce burn. i must read some more of her novels after this
