okay so clearly we CAN write captivating prose. John just sucks. I like Persephone. More her. Less john
(I think maybe it’s because john knows absolutely nothing and doesn’t seem to care, so i’m not intrigued by his mystery. Persephone isnt telling us things on purpose)

so far i’m not really falling into the writing style. it’s so objective, which i’m sure is supposed to be showing some separation from John and us but like. dang i don’t care about this guy at all rn. I like Ruben but the descriptions just feel really detached? probably that’s the point but still. meh.

Unforch I am not a graphic novel person. Not even a little. Ive been reading this for what 20 minutes? Im already like halfway done and the story feels like its in the exposition still. I think thats just a graphic novel thing tho.

Reading this im genuinely astonished that Westover can even write it. the level of abuse that she was facing, and the amount of gaslighting and manipulation she endured is so intense to read about I cannot imagine living through this, and much less writing about it. As I'm reading this one thing is becoming more apparent, Tara Westover is a hero. I want to reach through the pages and sob and hug and thank her.

Im not sure what page I'm on cause I'm reading online but this is my guess.
