I’m so sad because the premise is interesting but for me I don’t think it’s being executed in an interesting way. I’m dreadfully bored and it feels so long. I’ve been reading this for like a week already…

This is so interesting because I don’t know if I’ve read a book that has started like this. It’s also heavy on the court politics but in a way that I find really interesting as opposed to tedious. All I can say is that it’s interesting, the decisions being made, the way it’s written is all very…interesting.

This feels like a completely different book to book one it almost feels suddenly Dune-esque. I’m not mad at that cause I love Dune. I’m definitely intrigued… very interesting set up so far but so confused though.

Whilst I am having a good time, this is taking forever to get through

I fear I’m bored, but I already know that it gets better.

Let’s see if I love this on a second read…

The audiobook is abysmal but it’s how I’ve made it this far so that’s something. I also don’t know what we’ve accomplished so far like nothing has happened… what is even the plot atp?

Will looking for a demon? Jem facing eventual death? Tessa being one big question mark? Some Mortimer guy? Institute politics? Yet none of these things are fully being explored. I’m boredd!!!

Will is 17? Why did I forget about all their ages I thought they were 20, this explains the melodrama. I fear I’ve finally outgrown YA stories because this is insufferable! No wonder the boy thinks he’s in love, he talking like a grown man but they’re literally 16-17 this is ridiculous.

WHATTT??!! Will loves whooo??? He loves Tessa?!? Is this a practical joke? When did that happen exactly?!? LOVE?!? Lmao joker.

And then ok a demon cursed you?? So now he pushes everyone away? This is the most ridiculous shit ever! THIS IS HIS SAD REASON?! REALLY? THIS?!

And again LOVE?! How can they be in love at all they barely know each other. Is this book rage bait?!?

So it feels “natural, as right as breathing” for Tessa to lean into a kiss with Will and I’m supposed to believe this is a love triangle? Right…

I hate when female characters do this. You go out of your way to constantly not understand someone and then every second be huffing and puffing about the fact that you don’t understand them..? They annoy you a little bit and you forget to humanise them and suddenly you’re surprised that they have a tragic backstory well fucking duh!
