I tried, I really did, but had to admit defeat with this one.

Really struggling with this one, but as its so short I'll persevere 'till the end. Came to it via a spurious link to Bukowski (my fav), the blurb and other reviews by some angst ridden geniuses suggest it's a classic but I find it slow, boring and having little to say. Still each to their own.

A few "tortured geniuses" out there reviewing this book with a touch of metaphysical angst. Personanly I think it's an OK book but they're are better in the ouvere out there. I came to this book via some tenuous Bukowski link but can't see the comparison myself

Mmm I'll probably finish but nothing new here. One for fans perhaps bit to many references to obscure religions and cultures and their leaders/ followers. Feels a bit like showing off to me

Brilliant book, great story and characters but the best bit is the philosophying chapter " raindrops in the avenue" is fantastic
