Its gotten very sad and emotional. These boys are bad at talking

My first foray into Sally Rooney (hard to believe if you’ve spent more than two minutes with me!

It took me a while to get into, like a week or so. The switching perspectives, the many peripheral characters that take a while to fully understand, and the style of prose particularly of Peter’s perspective took me a second to fully grasp.

But I’m in it now. I’m fully invested. I love these boys

If somebody ate me up the way Ernestine ate up Fonny’s family, I’d simply kill myself. And if I WAS Ernestine, you’d see me on the news.

And I’m gonna finish it this time

“I don’t understand why my son prefers his mother to me” followed by three pages of “my son is lazy. he’s pretentious. his hair is stupid. he is interested in things I don’t understand and I tell him are stupid. his girlfriends are all annoying and I’m rude to them. when him and his mum talk, I take it as a personal attack. and worst of all… he dares to be 18” crazy douglas, crazy

You feel bad when Connie asks Douglas to separate and then he keeps talking and you go… actually never mind. Connie, babe, GET OUT!

Turns out I didn’t know what this book was about… but extremely entertaining. Been chuckling big time
