Normally I try not to stop reading in the middle of a chapter, but I wanted to continue so badly that I let myself break this rule. Really enjoying this.

“Guido had gone to law school, had put in several years at a Wall Street law firm, and had discovered that his heart was not in his work, and so he had come back to graduate school to study Romance languages and literature.”

Is this my future?? One chapter in and I am sensing this book will be saving me from my reading slump. I guess I needed a yearning man plot.

After reading the first chapter I have two qualms: First, I am seeing a lot of trees but no forest… This might be a me problem but it is hard to stay engaged with such detailed writing when it is hard to attach the details to a clear plot. Second, and maybe this will change as the book progresses, there is no clear character to follow and apparently I need a protagonist to be interested.

Simultaneously listening to the audiobook narrated by Aimee Lou Wood! (I wouldn’t understand half the dialogue without the audiobook)

Listened to chapter 1, 4, 5, and 10 for class. Really enjoyed and will come back to the rest

Started listening to the audiobook shortly after its release and I have really enjoyed it but it feels a bit too soon for me in the sense of still grieving the country we could have had! 6h 58m left

Started listening to the audiobook ages ago and stopped listening with 2h 6m left. Will probably come back to it but unlikely I will continue with the series
