i hate it but i’m also enjoying it but i also hate it

i stopped listening to the audiobook midway through chapter three because it became more and more obvious the va’s interpretation was just not that of the author (or i’m completely wrong on this, but it just seemed so wrong).

for example regarding kip living at home. there’s so much emotion and so many feelings in that scene in ch3 where he talks about his sister, but the va doesn’t convey that at all

“I don’t have the balls for that”
“At least that’s good to know”
“What”
“That you don’t have balls”

i can’t help but feel like it’s a “glad you’re not ‘secretly a dude’” (aka trans) joke but maybe i’m reading too much into it

I’m rereading (relistening) this immediately after finishing it for the first time cause there were so many names and stories and the order is not chronological and I just go confused, only for me to then not listen to it in one go and now still be confused because I’ve forgotten who Amelia is.

I’ve decided to just move on because otherwise I will obsessively listen to certain parts for the tenth time atp

I like how they actually changed certain words / sentences in the intro of the audiobook so it sounds like it was written as an audiobook (e.g. "turn it off and come back to it later"). I've just started so I don't know about the rest but I'm pleasantly surprised.

Sadly I don't have the pdf with the graphs that you're supposed to get with the e-book. I am listening to it on Storytel and they don't supply it.

i hate this

i started reading this because the back says this book will help you “not only stun depression, but kick it to the curb-in just a week completely prescription and substance-free for the long-term.”

regardless of this IMPOSSIBLE claim, the reviews are quite high so i wanted to know why this was the case. since the book is so short i thought it couldn’t hurt to read - i might have been wrong.
