Really bad vibes from this book tbh

We get it, they're taking turns wearing the church dress

Relentessly uncomfortable so far. Pretty repetitive and hopeless, finding it kind of hard to suspend my disbelief enough to believe in, at first I thought it might b an extended metaphor but if so it is an extremely stretched metaphor. Hopefully something other than child abuse happens soon

Meet someone new and immediately lie about your sister being 'busy' are you not trying to find out where she is? You may want to try "have you seen my sister, do you know where she might be?" Are you not supposed to be a journalist????????

If I showed up and my sisters house was unlocked and her phone was left behind I would simply call the police.
Also how would u keep it a secret that both of ur kids hav the same rare skin disease? I guess the argument is they're so different in age that it may not have come up but that seems pretty unlikely, I guess it will be important later but that just seemed very rogue

Really starting to wind me up now, this book never shows it only tells. Its always jumping around for no reason, the story is just so poorly told. How is addie 300 years old with no interesting insights or perspectives. All she does is steal stuff and talk about waking up in satin sheets. Also she's dumb and unambitious, it took her 75 years to leave paris????? Bruh u r boring

I feel like the romance between Henry and Addie is so oversimplified, like what are the chances that the only other person who can see u in 500 years is also a guy around ur age who u fancy and get along with? What if they fall out? They haven't considered the consequences at all, they are both very short sighted and naive which I guess makes sense if ur the type of person to make a deal with the devil lol.

"A palimpsest in reverse" felt very jarring

It's so long and also quite repetitive, there are phrases if not whole sentences being repeated, the writing seems kind of juvenile?
