This is a really interesting character study and history book all about Robert Moses long tenure building parks/parkways/bridges in NY.
It shows how he built his influence of power and made himself an immovable force.

Lots of personal details so far. I think they got a lot of information from his wife Essie's diary so you get to hear a lot of her opinions on varios characters they ran into while Paul was performing and they traveled around Europe and went to parties in the US.

I think 1492 was a bit easier of a read. This has some interesting information in it, but spends a lot longer on single subjects and their impact. It is well researched though.

Currently reading the source material from the states declaring their desire to succeed following the election of an abolitionist friendly president. There are arguments for slavery showcased as a positive vs wage labor trying to paint it as a net good combined with the fear or what will happen in the inevitable post-slavery era which is foreshadowing reconstruction and attitudes that carry over to even today.

Fascinating so far reading pre-war discussion of slavery directly from political conventions and letters.
