This book is anything but a horror novel 😂. I am glad my literature teacher picked it up as a mandatory read for next year's curriculum. I can know understand how pop culture changed the essence of Frankenstein by Mary Shelley. Frankenstein is not even a mad scientist. He is a geek college student.

This novel is easy to read, I think it may be a good classic for beginners.

The Aglaïa - Nastasia - Prince Myshkin love triangle reminds me of the Warner - Adam - Juliette love triangle. It seems like the author changed his mind about the love interest midway through the book. But in Shatter me, it made much more sense.

This is not a novel this is a compilation of essays. Dostoevsky broke the fundamental rule of “show don't tell” several times.

I can't stand the universe switching every 2 chapters 😮‍💨. The first book was so good though !

When he is not describing parallel universes James Islington does an incredible job of writing high fantasy.

It is a difficult book, not because it is hard to understand but because it is hard not to get bored by it. There is no plot, not an ounce of suspense, and not even a clear character development. Dostoevsky is simply contemplating what would happen if an utterly good and honest man lived in a modern society. He mainly explores the themes of justice and religion. Personally this book doesn't speak to me.

I like the fact that there is a lot of implicit information. This book requires deep thinking and focus. It can be challenging at times. Nonetheless, I still can't quite fathom where this story is going. If you love this book, I would very much like to know why !

This is definitely one of the weirdest books I've ever read. I won't be reading Dostoevsky again any time soon.
