What an interesting first chapter !

Finally, there are some interesting plot twists !

I dislike every single character, but I'm so behind on my goodreads challenge that I have no choice but to keep reading 😭

The enemies to lovers is ridiculous 🤡.

It reminds me of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.

The dialogues are mediocre 💀💀🫡

I am CLEARLY underwhelmed. I was expecting more from Fanon since I absolutely adored The Wretched of the Earth. Unfortunately he keeps repeating the same things over and over again. His examples are whole paragraphs from novels which make them way too long and irrelevant. Moreover, his arguments are not that interesting. He is just giving a list of the different ways minorities may have had an inferiority complex.

I'm underwhelmed so far. To be honest, I have felt this way every time I have decided to pick up a book after seeing its author promote it.

I absolutely ADORED The Wretched of the Earth, so I can't wait to dive into this essay. I'm in the mood for something intellectually stimulating, and at the same time something entertaining. I guess that means I'll be reading two books at once 😅.

I'm on chapter two, and I know more about who has a crush on whom than I do about the academy or the world. 😑😑

...I feel like I'm not that into YA fantasy anymore.

To no one's surprise, the romance is just as rushed and shallow as the plot. Crow said “I like you” on page one hundred and twelve.

This book is about strategists but does not require much thinking. Do not get me wrong, it is not a bad book. I just think that due to how shallow and simple the story is, Strike the Zither would ne more appealing to teens under 14. However I may be feeling this way because I am reading it just after The Will of the Many. 😅

I have just finished the second chapter and the pacing is unrealistic. The author wrote about a battle, the aftermath of it, a shift of alliance, TWO counter-attacks, and a betrayal in THIRTY PAGES. I have read middle grade books less fast-paced.

I'm not fond of the writing 😬. I have only read the first chapter so far, and the writing felt like a combination of info dumping and reading someone's journal.

What an opening line 🤭. And the ARROGANCE 😂.

This is how great high fantasy is written !!!
