Unfortunately I feel like Sabriel lacks some personality, which I have seen in some reviews, so at least I was prepared for that. I do however find Mogget fascinating. He chaffs under the the lack of freedom but still gives Sabriel the means to keep him in control. It seems like even he can't control his full version or self, so the cost of his freedom is at least worth it for now and that's like a really cool aspect

I have been wildly swinging between "I can't read anymore I'm afraid some of the Mawarati crew are gonna die" and "I have to find out what happens next. Its slowed my reading progress quite a bit, but at least I'm still enjoying it.

I'm just barely resisting the urge to pull an all nighter just to binge read this in a day

When the dialogue is awkward it's horrifically awkward, but it it works, it works really well. And Sam and Lily do have great chemistry together. The audiobook just... doesn't always hit the right tone all the time with how the dialogue is written.

Marianne is annoying in a teenagery way, so while her judginess can be excused with the assurance that she will grow up eventually, Willoughby has no such excuses. You are a grown man who not only is a gossipy little bitch, you got as close to cheating on your fiance and leading someone on as possible that "oh I didn't mean it like that" doesn't cut it. And I'm throwing Edward in that same dumpster fire too

While I feel for the guy, Andrew is such an annoying guy. Like the audacity to think and that fucking good would cause Marie to fall in love with him is something. Only issue is we're so entrenched in either his perspective or someone in his circle, I can't really tell if this is something the author is seriously putting out there as fact. I'm still curious, but not really enjoying this so far.

I very much appreciate this bisexual romantic tension coming off of Rhy and Alucard. I'll passively accept Lila and Kell being paired off it there's also more this.

The most unrealistic thing about this so far is that a teen in 2019 knows that Kmart exists

Learned my lesson from Empire of Storms, so I'm rereading the first 2 books of obernewtyn before I continue the series. I forgot that it's both apocalyptic and fantasy, which is an interesting combo, but I cannot figure put where this is set based on the map. Given the references to nuclear warfare ruining the world I gotta assume this is set on an existing continent

I'm keeping track of characters and event ls pretty well so that's good. This also has yet to fall into the trap of most multicharacter perspectives in that I have yet to find a narrator that bores me. Even if I don't like that character the change in perspective and the events going on around everyone is still interesting. I have no idea how this is going to stretch to 800+ pages tho, so we'll see.
