Got this approved from Netgalley last year and am only now starting it 😬. Interesting so far. Very short (like one page) fourth wall breaking chapters.

Not rly my style but I'm enjoying it so far :)

YKW I kinda hate this and am not going to finish it I've decided 👍. I'm sure it really comes together eventually but at this point I'm so done w it.

Very good but so much information. I'm Catholic and never hung out around outspoken Evangelicals so everything surrounding fundamentalism and rapture beliefs is so utterly foreign to me. Crazy to see how widespread it is nowadays and I can't even begin to imagine it back in the 80s.

Enjoying this book. Wish there were more stakes in it though esp by this far in. I understand that it is very much a fairy tail and not a historical fiction, though.

Very clunky writing. Not sure if it's the translation or not. Very clunky story as well esp the passage of time barely being acknowledged. Not my fave but I think it'll get better 🙂‍↕️.

Enjoying this a lot. I forget what it's like reading a good nonfiction book sometimes. It really is all Evangelical Christians faults' lowkenuinely.

It definitely gotten better but, despite my love of seabirds, I cannot get into this. I am all for recognizing the intelligence of animals that appears in ways different than our own/what is seen in mammals, but this book is a bit too anthropomorphize and cherry-picking in its sources (referencing a survey that indicated a single bird doing the activity, for instance). Not for me but not a horrible book :D

Low-key don't like the writing style... I think I'm in some phase where more poetic nonfiction is just annoying me despite me liking it in the past. Not marking as DNF, I'll listen to more tomorrow, but something is bugging me.

Okay fineeee I haven't picked this up since like November. I'll move it to DNF but its on pause I promise. Next to my bed at this very moment with the bookmark in it still.

One of those cases where I know that I will enjoy it a lot and then got paralyzed and didn't pick it up again. So ill restart from the beginning when I do 😌.

I am realllyyyyyyyy disliking this very much. I am not jelling with the writing style and especially not the dialogue, oh my God. Went and read some reviews to motivate me and it seems just too creature-feature-y to me which is not a genre I have ever gotten that into. Not going to rate because uhm I read like less than three chapters but yeah.

Really enjoying this but also god....

Was def not expecting this to be entirely made up of snippets of interviews of various people, but it's very good. I just know there will be so many points during this listen that has me reeling (it's already started).

Maybe not a good idea to start another book with so much on my plate rn but whatever. I'm really liking this so far (chapters one and two).

I also didn't realize this is the same author who wrote that A Magical Girl Retires book (which I also haven't read, but crazy range there).

Going to DNF, unfortunately. I really like the idea of this book but the author's too (IMO, at least) poetic writing style frustrates me. I like what she's saying, but I just want her to get to the point.

Not sitting through 9 more hours of this, but it's not at all a bad book so far. Just not what I wanted for this topic 🤕.

Flop after flop imo other than stories one and two. Really hopeful about the final one though :).

I'm not finishing this one aughh. Not working for me at all but it's a fine novel I guess. I only care about Dinah and she's only one out of five main characters so whenever it cuts to, say, her sons I'm not having a good time.

Oh I did not like story #three at all. Which is crazy because a group running from Genghis Kahn but werewolves should be perfect for me but alas.

I'm kinda not really liking this one. I think I only care about Dinah which, considering there are five rotating POVs, is not looking good 😭. I'll give it another listen on Friday and see how I feel then as things are just picking up now though.

Finishes stories one and two of nine :). I'm enjoying these but you have to like some silliness and anachronisms in your stories.

I'm having fun but I def get why ppl make fun of the "I'm not like the other girls I have this dark beast inside of me" narration 😭.
