Really enjoying this one, very history focused exploring how different areas of money evolved at diff times (compound interest in ancient Mesopotamia, the dispersion of coins, etc) and his arguments of how they impacted different stages of human society (Gutenberg's initial development of the printing press to make money off church indulgences > Protestant Reformating).

It's also extremely funny.

Three chapters left!

The second half is sooo good so far I just hate how tedious the first half was to get through 😭

More of the same issues but this last chapter has been sooooo good. So hopefully that will continue for the last half of the book 😁👍.

Ahh it's fine but some parts are bugging me 😕. I'm not too into stories where the big driving force is that two of the three guys are really dumb and make dumb decisions that drive the plot forwards.

Part One done. Soooo good but I just know this is going to get very sad very soon :(.

Veryyyy intriguing....

Gonna make my way through this one slowlyyyy but such a great first chapter 🫶.

This memoir is like. 5-10 minute chapters of vaguely chronological vignettes about random points in this guy's life growing up. I think it needs a much stronger center line.
Also, it's very obvious that neither he nor his father ever kept a journal or anything to reference. Lots of I don't know what my dad felt like about x at the time" or "I can't remember what I felt like/said to my father after y" like okay -_-.

Yeahhhh not totally into this one. Still decent though. I despise sections in books where it's a character talking to a therapist (which is a large part of the framing of this novel) sadly so that's also grating on me.

Nearly halfway done once you factor out the large notes on sources, etc. section at the end of the book (and the # of pages on gr not matching with my copy lol) 🫶.
