More than 75% is about their feelings, reactions, sensations towards each other. Will he won’t she. Very little plot progression.

I didn’t realize this was completely Romantasy.

Yawn. The title made me think it would be a light-hearted rom com. But it’s plodding and not funny. Maybe it would be okay if that’s what I wanted, but I was hoping for fun.

Not sure I’ll keep reading.

This is just not grabbing me. The plot is typical - I’ve enjoyed a number of books with similar plots. But something about the writing style is boring me.

It’s frustrating. The MFC is a private investigator with survivor’s guilt due to the death of her twin. Understandable that she’s struggling. But she’s a crappy PI too. She’s hired by a man to find his son, and she doesn’t ask him the basic question of HOW OLD IS THE SON! she doesn’t know if she’s looking for a toddler, a teenager, or a grown-a$$ man! Wtf.

I hate incompetent main characters.

Why doesn’t anyone think? Weird behaviors and they just shrug? No one thinks - hey? Is someone responsible?

The entire universe is TSTL.

The whole speech about how the country’s laws are archaic in the treatment of women compared to the white northlands feels racist, especially as European countries aren’t exactly known for treating women well in approximately the same time frame as this book is presumably set.

Again - maybe the author shouldn’t write about countries of which she’s ignorant.

A few annoying points showing the author is tripping over her western background and lack of true understanding of the culture she writes about.

First, the names are written in the incorrect order, with personal name first and family name last.

Second, why do they call themselves “Far Easterners”??? From their perspective, they are not EAST. They are the center of their own world.

Then the assistant to the female protagonist tells her “Mr. Ross called”, and she instantly knows who it is, even though she hasn’t communicated with him in years. And the assistant doesn’t know about him, so it should have been “a Mr. Ross called”. Just clunky writing.

Yikes. The writing is awkward. The CEO of a billion dollar business refers to the CFO as “Mr. Davis”, but everyone else by their first names. Not even “Charles Davis”. That’s weird and awkward. Is he still a child?

This is a fun, light-hearted series with decent mysteries. But knitting okays a huge role, and suddenly I’m wondering how much the author knows about knitting. The main character is totally incompetent about knitting and can barely knit a square - but was able to knit an entire sweater???

It's going pretty quickly. I like the slow development.

But the author knows nothing about cats. Total incorrect stereotype- the cat is living on cream. The cat would suffer from severe malnutrition (unless it's a terrific hunting outdoor cat). Also, the knitter picked up the cat by the scruff - dangerous on an adult cat. It's annoying when the author is so wrong. Makes me wonder about what else will be wrong.

She REALLY needs an editor to watch for continuity errors. She has already contradicted herself within the first (short) quarter of the book. Does her sister live with her mom and f grandmother or by herself in a studio??? The book has said both.

The random use of commas continues to perplex. They don't make any sense and disrupt the flow of the book. There are so many elements going on also. It's not engaging my attention as much as the first book.

Fun premises - I’m enjoying these paranormal books written for older women.

The obstinate attitude of the MC is frustrating, but realistic.

This particular book could use an editor who knows grammar. The random commas and sentence fragments are distracting.

Not impressed with the story development. The MC is handling her new circumstances way too easily. There’s just not enough depth. Using mind powers on her boss the second day after she learns about magic? Not plausible.

Needs editing. Wrong words used throughout. Mostly typos, but also incorrect usage.

Importantly there is a fundamental change in the premise. First H doesn’t change anything about the restaurant form when he first opened it - which is why the h is so important to aggravate him and trick him into changing things. Then at 40%, suddenly he’s been ICD about changing things to keeping stepping it up. Which is it?

First story about Kat - 3 stars.

Second story about Isa - I wish I hadn’t started reading it. I read the first full book first. Now I find out that the “heroine” is a rapist. Maybe she’ll grow as the story progresses, but that’s a pretty hard obstacle to overcome.

Man-ho meets woman who changes him? He had a bad experience in high school and now just has one night stands.

But it’s more than being a man-go (which he defends by saying the woman knows what to expect). He’s also a misogynist- he doesn’t listen or pay attention to women — except the h.

At first I thought this book was just a modern Harlequin (Mills &Boone). And it does have a lot of similar elements: young, gorgeous Virgin heroine. Older, dark powerful man-whore forces her into marriage for revenge.

But this heroine doesn't win him over just by being spunky or docile. There's more depth here. It is an absorbing read.
