if i took a shot every time a woman is beaten in this book id already be getting the spins and we're not even at the 50 page mark. im glad most of these men died tbh it's what they deserve

the prose is off the charts, completely bonkers. however i think mr kerouac has a subtle hatred for women that seeps through every page. actually it's not subtle. every woman he meets is either a stupid child or a conniving whore, nothing in between. oh well! there are other authors. still makes me want to take a long road trip.

this book is becoming a yearly reread at this point 🧙‍♂️

picked this up from a free book exchange at (of all places) a Toyota dealership…and it’s beautiful!! the prose is fluid and yet the plot is structured, the characters feel distinct. i feel lucky to have stumbled upon it.

picked this up at a farmer’s market book exchange and it’s…interesting? lots of strong themes concerning marriage, disability, justice, etc. also the names of places & people aren’t obnoxious or unreadable which is always a plus in fantasy novels.
