opening the book with an in-universe theological discussion of robot consciousness….this book was made for me in a lab. I was born to read this book. I’m so stoked for this it’s not even funny

picked this up from a free book exchange at (of all places) a Toyota dealership…and it’s beautiful!! the prose is fluid and yet the plot is structured, the characters feel distinct. i feel lucky to have stumbled upon it.

The unsubtle world-building of giving your fantasy desert people a religion that is basically just islam lite…..girl 😐

im rolling with this so far but it is falling into several of the fantasy-novels-written-by-men tropes unforch

picked this up at a farmer’s market book exchange and it’s…interesting? lots of strong themes concerning marriage, disability, justice, etc. also the names of places & people aren’t obnoxious or unreadable which is always a plus in fantasy novels.

I love Whitman because he’ll be like “oh yes women, my lovers”, but then spend 8 lines of poetry talking about blacksmiths with “grimed and hairy chests” and talk about the “lithe sheer of their waists that play even with their massive arms” like ok. sure thing grandpa🤠

What can I say. I like to keep my finger on the pulse and my nose in the news 🐉
