the prose is off the charts, completely bonkers. however i think mr kerouac has a subtle hatred for women that seeps through every page. actually it's not subtle. every woman he meets is either a stupid child or a conniving whore, nothing in between. oh well! there are other authors. still makes me want to take a long road trip.
