“Brute force of his appetite had to confront eventually the fact of her living body.” My god - wrestling with how much I like or don’t like this style of writing - but what a sentence. Like long pages of poetry cloaking themselves. And infectious, in a way, very easy to slip into - lends itself well to portraying consciousness/stream of thought unmodified (although it is evident that the phrases are wrought w care)

Really disliking this “universe ejaculating spirit” thing. Obviously evocative and probably meant to elicit exactly what it is eliciting but I hate it! More and more I see this sort of provocatively gross phrasing and I’m tired of it it feels purposeless. Also there’s a strange repetition of phrases over the span of probably two pages or so that I find very annoying especially in audio form

Zoe is so 19. And I say this positively. It's really interesting to see how well delineated the age-maturity aspects of all characterizations are

You know, weirdly, all I can think about is how many people I know exactly like this. The cocaine and the surface-level taste and the questionably-sourced stimulants and so much in service of the image [as in - not that the characters are themselves explicitly focused on image, but rather that the narration is]; and the music and partying and wealth and the art most of all. I hate them. Is that terrible to say?

I love language. I love language in this. I don't know, exactly - it's so peaceful, metered, even. Like when you're watching the ocean come in and out and your eyes unfocus a little. I'm also thinking about noticing, being present - sort of in the context of how I was introduced to Cole, by my English professor last semester. He says he "makes a photograph" - I want to read Blind Spot in it's entirety.

i saw it on his floor so it's a sign that i should just kill myself about it (slash joke slash kidding) (i kind of do believe this is a sign from God in some contorted way but like in a way that's a catalyst for moving on so it's cool)
