Why does Goodreads keep showing updated review dates for books I read and rated years ago?

I know DNFing a book out of spite because the female MC is 5’4 is the exact same as DNFing a book because the male MC is 6’3; pointless because it’s practically a trope. But still. I’m a just a tall woman, standing in front of my keyboard, asking romance authors to write more female MCs who are taller than average for a fucking change.

And yeah, the male MCs could stand to be a little shorter too!

Is it just me or are Alexis Hall’s contemporary cis male MC’s all beginning to sound alike?

Just deleted a few hundred books from my tbr for 2016 - 2019 and it felt gooood! Listen, if I haven’t read them by now, chances are they’re never going to get read. Plus, my tastes have changed over the years and something that sounded good in 2016, just doesn’t hold the same appeal in 2022. New year, new tbr!

TFW you fall down a hockey compilations rabbit hole on YouTube then immediately scroll to AO3 to re-read Taylor Fitzpatrick’s ‘Impaired Judgement and Other Excuses’ because you just can’t get enough of hockey players being hot ;)

Do you ever just stop and think, thank fuck for authors. Like, how would any of us get through all of *waves hands* this if we didn’t have the comfort of a good book.

This is already feeling like it's going to be a bit of a slog. The characters don't even feel like the same ones I met in the first book. They just feel...off now that the romance has kicked up a notch.

Why is there an introduction and three prologues to this book? Like, let’s just start the damn story already.

Romance authors, stop trying to pass off your 5’5 or under heroines as tall. They’re not. If you really want them to have long legs or describe them as willowy, make them goddamn taller. IT’S OKAY TO HAVE TALL HEROINES FFS

Just when I thought the MC’s couldn’t get shittier, here comes the fat-shaming. I know this author is obsessed with abs, but this is just bullshit.

This book reminds me why I don't read certain contemp authors anymore. The male MC has tossed female MC over his shoulder twice for no reason. When she was sick (why do the female MC's always get sick??), he undressed her and took her to the shower to clean up, even though her female coach was available. And when the female MC admits she has a stalker, the male MC gets mad - AT HER - for not telling him. Ugh.

No matter how good an author you are and no matter how much I’m enjoying your book, if you write a lovemaking scene that takes place hours after one of the participants has been shot (in a time before painkillers no less) I’m going to call absolute bullshit. So...BULLSHIT! #petpeeves

Oof, this one is hard. The story is excellent but it's equal parts maddening and depressing. I'm going to take a little break from it and come back at another time. Current events are horrible and I don't have the intestinal fortitude to keep listening.

This book is bad but I can’t stop reading. Almost 40% in and the MC’s haven’t even met yet. Why can’t I put this down??

Downloaded the sample from Amazon, read it and immediately went and bought the book. I think I'm going to love this one *fingers crossed*

Is something going to happen? So far it's been a whole lot of sitting around and waiting for...something to happen.

Starting my first book of 2020 and I can’t think of a better way to kick off this reading year than digging in to one of my very favourite series. Wheee!

Two of the three female characters have come around. The one holdout is a complete fail as a mother and a human being because of “ambition”. Sigh.

Career-minded mothers seem to be a real sore spot in m/m romance.

So far, the three female characters in this book (2 moms and 1 bestie) are either judgemental or indifferent. Not a great start. I’m only going to keep reading because I generally like this author’s work.
