Is it too early on in the book to formally declare a new favorite character? Because I am absolutely LOVING Levi so far. Think Kaz Brekker with a moral code and without the trauma. He's amazing and I love how we can see how much he genuinely cares about the Irons. I mean... he calls them his kids!?!? GAH 😍😭

So I never realized that the narraration in these books were supposed to be Mina actually writing them a few years after they happened (and I have to say I don't really know how to feel about there suddenly being all these notations) but now that I know I realized that that must mean she's coming up with the chapter titles too, which makes chapters like "Our Heroines in High Fashion" really funny 😅

I've said it before and I'll say it again and again. Kenji is literally the best. Everyone's going through complete and utter devastation, he's miserable but trying to pull through, and his entire day was just made because two of his friends who he's been shipping FINALLY became a thing after like months of him trying to get them together. He loves to see his friends happy and I just love that so much. It's so sweet.

I didn't know it was possible to hate a character so much, but I absolutely despise Max and Evie. And Anderson, but I've hated him since Unravel Me. Like... they all just make me so sick.

I literally JUST opened the book and almost threw it across the room in my excitement. WE'RE GETTING KENJI'S POV OMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMG this is going to be the best book in the series I just know it.

I swear, if Kenji gets killed off I don't think I'll ever recover. I'm pretty sure I can handle anything this series can throw at me (except maybe James' death) but if Kanji dies... that's it. I'm done. I will never be the same. I literally love him so much.

This is actually one of my least favorite tropes. The whole, "everything you thought you knew isn't true" thing. It makes me mad. Also, I just know Warner is lying about the resistance. I KNOW IT. Because it can't be true. It's just NOT POSSIBLE OKAY!?

Side note: I just noticed the bird on the cover for the first time and it is such a genius design element! I'm kind of stunned that I missed it before.

Am I --- despite everything --- falling for Aaron Warner? Maybe. To quote Juliette: "I try so hard to remember all the reasons why I'm supposed to hate him. I try to remember all the horrible things I've seen him do. But I'm tortured" (329). He just seems like a completely different person than last book, and I really don't know how to feel about that 😅

A villain with a tragic backstory is still a villain, right? It doesn't excuse everything they've done, right? It doesn't make it ok to completely forget about your boyfriend who you broke up with because you almost accidentally killed him and might hurt him again, simply because the guy who tortured you and other innocents is here and hot and has a really tragic backstory and happens to be in love with you ...Right?

Well, I'm FINALLY reading Shatter Me, home of booktok's favorite boyfriend, Aaron Warner. I don't understand how people like him, and I can't imagine what happens in the book that causes Juliette to be with him. And I personally don't care for romance, but Adam seems nice, which means he's clearly going to die or else Juliette would end up with him. I bet Warner kills him. And she probably doesn't know it. 😐
