This author's world building skills suck - I had figured out it was set in the future or an alternate reality but then 12% of the way in all of a sudden (in one sentence) the author sets it into a futuristic sci fi scene.

Not sure if I love this one or if it really annoys me - good thing I read Alice Winters for ridiculous humor

One thing Adam Vex needs to learn is to stop asking, "What could possibly go wrong?"

Well - several loads of laundry done, dishes caught up on and table cleaned. Story is progressing, but just building the frame I think.

Okay - dark and twisted with non-consent tossed in (sort of). At this point I have not seen any redeeming characteristics from either MC. The plot id really basic - see - want - take.

This one is the same as the other two aside from the plot. An okay story with partially developed characters and a straightforward plot with no surprises. The reader can see the conclusion coming from the first time the murder timeline is laid out. Even the reason for the murder can be guessed easily before the 33% mark of the book.

This book is not on any sliding scale - you either connect and it is 5/5 or you do not and it is 1/5. This is not about writing style, flow, or development - it is down to the gritty emotions under the skin.

An absolutely lovely read. These characters are unique and interesting - I love the fact that the author used Onley James' Necessary Evils as a reference for his vampire character. The world becomes clearer in each book (this was #5) and the characters are a touch more developed. The plot was basically straightforward with a slight jig-jog thrown in so not a 5 - but excellent non the less.

So far it is engaging, but the narration is throwing me a bit. I need to get use to Joel leslie's almost breathless style
