In a lot of ways the plot reminds me of Legendborn, even if the details and focus are quite different. I'm sure it'll elevate itself from the somewhat simple premise eventually, though I do wonder how much of this book will be going through the YA fantasy motions...

This is easy to read and it does indeed feel like I could find at least 3 things like this on ao3 so I shall live to see another day
