DNF

I don't like this book.

If only I didn't have work tomorrow 🥺

I said I would take a break now, but I don't know if I am strong enough

I'm screaming dancing laughing hysterically

Wow this book is so bad.

Vampires??

So we have evil Sequoia trees?

Is this... ace rep? 👀

I'm starting to wonder if the person who wrote the blurb even read the book because there has been 0.5 deals made with "creatures in the woods" so far, and we're closing in on the last 150 pages.

Winter is here and the plot still hasn't reached creatures making bargains... Only Whitaker. But he's not a giant ass wolf. Unless...?
(Fr though, this is really slow.)

Hmmm.... More sussy maybe-fae people...

Istg if someone sells their soul for chocolate-

This is not as high fantasy as I expected. They have guns. And the Christian god??

I was not prepared for demigods.
But the balls are confirmed to be creepy and probably fae. Score for me!

I feel like there's too much stuff going on. Murder mystery, ghosts, the spooky door in the cave, balls, and now the competition and threat of arranged marriage. Unless it all ties together really well at the end (although this is a trilogy so maybe not.) I'm sure certain elements will feel unfinished.
My money is on Fisher though. Kill the sisters. Marry one of his childhood sweethearts. Get the estate. Profit.

I was not prepared for the level of ghost story this book was. Not complaining.

Someone watched barbie and the twelve dancing princesses and said, What if they were dying one by one? *And lived on an island?*

I am so surprised that this is spending as many pages on the backstory as it is. Pleasantly surprised, because I really like domestic stuff, but really not what I expected.
