Abigails teenager POV really does what it wants to do: confusing the reader with teenager words and thoughts. Like ... I was a teenager myself, not THAT long ago, but I can't remember a situation in which I wanted to LICK SOMEONES ARM AND GET ITS TASTE ... ugh ;-;

In this book (2023!) Nanotyrannus lancensis is still a juvenile Tyrannosaurus rex ... paleontology is such an interesting field because every few days something changes or something new is discovered!
Also, if you've never seen the Borealopelta markmitchelli fossil you should INSTANTLY search for pictures.

There are basics but also parts for advanced readers, considering the maaany different topics and contexts of paleontology. A really good mixture of "Oh, I've read about this before" and "Oh, THAT'S something I didn't know yet" :)

Next to the Secrets of the Nile dilogy, this book is a huge highlight for me! The end?? I read the epilogue before I read the whole book - and now that I've read it, I almost cried. My own violin feels like a person now. I won't ever scrunch my nose at her again ,_,

It's a highlight of 2026, I feel it. The author KNOWS what she's describing: the angle of the bow, the vibrations of the instrument and the tunes in the air, the scratching, the gliding, the shape ... it's refreshing to read this book. She KNOWS how to describe the emotions of classical music and playing the violin!
... only thing she doesn't mention is the tinnitus. After 16 years I carry it around all day.

Comfy but made me sad very often :(

It's not as bad as some people claim it to be, but the translation seriously sucks. There are A LOT of mistakes in the German one. Though I have to admit, as someone who watched Arcane and LOVED the series, you understand her ambitions better while reading Chosen Of The Wolf. Even if it confirms my point of never really liking Ambessa, hah

Did I seriously ALMOST read 250 pages today?? Never expected this series to be SO entertaining! My colleague did me a huge favor as he lend the first book to me, promising I'd like that :o
