Second book check!
Nobody prepared me for the plot twists and emotional rollercoasters ... Philip Pullman, these aren't books for children, what the *beep* :')
But I have to admit, it's been a while since I've lost myself in such a thought-through fantasy world(s). While reading, you feel the chapters to an endless world unfold - quite literally.

I love the mixture of different worlds, oh my God. They are in the north, so the bears have nordish surnames like Byrnison and Raknison. And they are called panserbjørne. I can't imagine anything better than that ;-;

At this point, okay, some details are lost in the movie. But it wasn't THAT bad, to be honest. There are quite a lot of scenes I can remember!

The book and movie aren't that far apart for now. But daaamn, in Germany we say that Lyra is "eine notorische Lügnerin". I hope the book taught most children NOT to lie! (though it still doesn't feel like a book for younger children)

All of these wild magical words and worlds ... I sometimes need to sort my thoughts to find the correct translation. But that's very cool! I love the dæmon concept and world building! Also, I can't wait to finally get to know Iorek and the other panserbjørne in the book.

I really adore the way the author doesn't just list off bird species but actually knows them! Plus I spoilered myself. I wasn't surprised, honestly. I knew this as soon as the topic "Anne and her not knowing who her father is" came up - like, wasn't that obvious??

You feel the author is a born "Ossi". Don't try to convince me otherwise.

What a beautiful book about mushrooms! Combining emotional episodes with mushroom facts and ideas for cooking was a strange but very welcome experience for me - and especially for the author. And man, I'm craving freshly picked karljohansvamp now ... ;-;

Sometimes, mushroom names are quite confusing. The ones which sound absolutely deadly aren't even slightly poisonous! Or which are colored black or red - no halluzinations, no poison. But the ones which look innocent and cute - almost instant death. I KNOW WHY I'M NOT COLLECTING MUSHROOMS

SHE THANKFULLY TOOK THE CHANCE OMG the last 200 pages were more interesting than the whole book! She should've written a whole book about exploring everything around Kleopatra and the magic of the meteorite!

Yeah, well, it's not as interesting as the Titanic one ... though I'm going to go on reading. I mean, Jane Austen really is so cute in this one :')

Not that bad yet, but also not brilliant - it's the childish drama for me which is slightly annoying.

Even if you're not interested in dinosaurs, this book is a historical piece of art. They really kept the cruelties at bay - these wars were much worser than they are described here. But oh God, people out there, pleaaase read this one! (from shocked to surprised to crying to laughing within seconds)

It doesn't feel like it's THAT long ago (1876). And yet they discuss wars with native Americans and the usage of electricity in light - things we don't even waste a thought about anymore. Just like how hard it was for these men to actually find fossils!

... don't burn out your magical energy blah blah a soul which dies again is lost forever blah blah a group of literal kids saves the whole magical world blah blah ... I would've wished for more Catrina content. Their powers are questionable, everyone suddenly has another power which can help them fight through the "war". I honestly don't need the other book series, that's really something for age 14 to 16.

Well, it ... it really is kinda ... childish. And the POV changes are annoying. I often forget which POV I'm reading at the moment and then boom, drama after drama :')

Yeah, well, I remembered the first book to be kinda childish and ... the second one isn't much better. How to call a land in which faes live in? Fairyland. They are discussing if unicorn meat should be banned. And in their friend group you have awkward enemies to lovers (dragon shifters + fae) and literally everyone has a brother or sister who's in a relationship with someone else's. Ugh.

I think we should have the same mentality considering death. It's something we live with and can't avoid - yet we act like it's something unbelievably bad. The body and soul are gone. But do we really have to mourn our loved ones? Why not changing the way we think, celebrating what they achieved in their lifes?

If you finally want the magic concept working out nice and as a part of a "gift" you have to earn - read Druidendämmerung. If you finally want a story in which every character REALLY is brought together by fate and plot twists- read Druidendämmerung. And if you are in love with scottish and celtic cryptids and monsters - read Druidendämmerung! (old fashioned way of speaking and lol jokes inclusive)

Okay so what I've DEFINITELY learnt is that Kaylie plays through every possible end for a book ... just to write an IMPOSSIBLE plot twist end. It really caught me off-guard. And I had to check how many pages are left until they get their shit together again. Though the end seems to hint at the topic of the third book (Daemonica??), I still loved Phantasma more!
