This might be a DNF. It’s long, and I’m not really enjoying the story. I think the MMF is kind of awful.

Will I ever finish this book? Who knows! I appear to have lost it and had not been able to find it in MONTHS.

Oh noooo! It’s a poem about the moon goddess and the author tried to make seas flow with Selene. But in Greek Selene is pronounced with a long ee sound at the end, so it doesn’t work at all. Girl, you cannot make these patterns work if you aren’t pronouncing the names of the gods night. I’m very frustrated right now.

Now to interrupt Spooky Season with this month’s book club read

This book has me cackling out loud! Does that make me a horrible person? Morbidly hilarious.

This book is far too long...

What have I gotten myself into? I’m listening to this as an audiobook because I couldn’t make myself sit down and read such a massive tome. I have a physical copy that has been sitting on my shelf for YEARS. I want it gone, but I hate getting rid of books I didn’t at least make an honest attempt at reading. 10 hours in and I’m only 17% through.

First pick of my friend’s book club. A slow start, but I think I’ve started to get into the story. I’m interested to see how this ends, as a lot more is going on here than I was expecting from the first several chapters.

WHY did Hugo stop partway through the story to give an overview of Notre Dame and the neighboring community? Put it at the very beginning or as an appendix or not at all, but not over a hundred pages in right when things started to become interesting!!

I did not realize this was a smut novel.... I’ve also come to the conclusion that authors who write explicit sex scenes have never actually had sex.

I put this book aside because it failed to hold my attention. Now I’m back to reading it! And it is still as predictable now as it was when I decided there were better things to read. Hopefully it gets more interesting, because right now I feel like I have already read this same book multiple times. Every epic fantasy novel falls into the same set of tropes and it gets to be so lackluster.
