We have met Rowan and the assassin is gonna have to start training with him to harness her powers.

One of the most pet peevish things Sarah J. Maas does in this series is, “I am Otterland’s assassin.” We get it! We know. I swear the assassin has to remind herself about it every so many chapters.

She is constantly mentioning that she misses or is thinking of Sam. It’s obvious that she likes him except to herself.

The stories are a little bit more entertaining, and I do think that it’s interesting to see how her relationship between Sam and her developed or evolved. But I don’t get really the reasoning behind why the stories need to be told or are important. We gained some insight that She trained with the silent assassins in the red desert in the past two books. But why is it important?

So far I am bored. I know this book has a purpose but I can’t help but think that this book could have been put in another book(s) in the series throughout. Like a flashback or something.

The captain just went into a broom closet and cried after seeing the assassin, his lover’s will. The captain was to receive everything if the assassin died.

Princess Nehemia is dead! The assassin finds the princesses killer. The assassin and the captain are essentially done😭

The captain of the guards reaction to scene the assassin barge in his chamber door with a blood soaked dress should be enough of a tell. He loves her!

I’m currently about to start chapter 7, but in chapter 4, it gets crazy. I was just thinking about how I haven’t read a book in a while where one of the main characters gets in a life-threatening incident which changes the trajectory of the whole story because they realize how much the victim of the accident means to them. In chapter 4, the two main characters meet for the first time. The dude gets hit by a car.

I kind of feel bad for Dorian. Since the assassin ended the romantic relationship he wanted to stay friends with her. One day he wanted to hang out with her best friends, and she completely shut him out. The assassin told Dorian that she wants to be friends with him, but then act like she doesn’t wanna be friends with him. Then she gets with the captain of the guard. It’s obvious she likes him.

We have already seen some foreshadowing concerning Sam, how or who betrayed her when she was taken captive, and information about her life before her parents died. I can’t wait to find out more.

At the end of chapter 17. “That kiss was five f*cking stars, Spencer.”
Then the last two lines Spencer asks her, “You never answered my question. Is 2 fingers enough to satisfy you?”
And she comes up with a great comeback, “I’ll let you know in the morning.”
Lmao

That last chapter was unnecessary.

It was as if Lauren Roberts pulled my heart out of my chest and stomped on it. Come to find out it was all an illusion! Now I cried for nothing.

I want to cry!

I was gonna stop here, but then I saw the word Blair in the chapter and I knew I had to read it. The last page in chapter 40 was so satisfactory. And I know that sounds awful to say, but revenge has been served on a silver platter, by the silver savior.

Pae finally meets Mak for the first time. I love that the author connected the Novella to the main story and they finally got to meet. I think they both needed that closure.

Jace’s fear and cries hurt my heart!

This cannot be happening! The new point of view is leading me to believe a secret is going to be coming out soon. If my suspicions are correct, this is mind-boggling. A plot twist I did not see coming!

Pae realize it slowly overtime her numbness to killing, and her personality is changing. Similar to how Katniss and The Hunger Games started to become numb. This just signifies that overtime violence can cause mental and emotional trauma to the body.

Pae has a nightmare. She wakes up to Kai standing in her room after kicking the door down. She has kept a small knife underneath her pillow. I wonder if this is foreshadowing to an event that happens later on in the book or not. I could totally see someone coming into the future queens quarters and trying to kill her or something.

I would’ve loved for Kitt to make a deal with Pae concerning her best friend killer. Pae would feel more at peace and feel more motivated to save the kingdom if her killer was killed. I guess her best friend’s killer wouldn’t even have to die. Just suffer.
