Surprisingly in love with it. The writing and wry humor is delectable. The self-deprecating humor is just a joy to read through especially when one is in the throes of despondency and despair. I utterly adore Phoebe’s character and can emphasize with her quirkiness and her capricious complex character predispositions wholeheartedly.

So quite slow in pacing, its dragging a lot. Even though I was intrigued in the beginning, its gotten slow from 30% and more on. But lets see...

Almost midway into the book. Currently there is mystery brewing albeit it’s a bit slow in terms of the plot unraveling. It does pique the interest but the way the story unfolds is quite slow which does make me, as a reader, lose interest in the suspense often. But nevertheless I persist because I am intent on finding out all the unresolved mysteries in this book!

Crying my way through it 😢, most devastatingly and achingly beautiful, such resilient characters surprise me. I’m in awe of such characters the author has written so beautifully in this novel. I am just speechless. It’s just excruciatingly how horrible the events unfold in the characters lives in this book. Just gut wrenching but beautiful paradoxically.

It’s a bit dragging on now; the plot of the story. The intrigue and horror of the mystery has died down a bit now and the murder investigation is being held. It’s quite slow and trite at this point of the book nevertheless I’m trying hard to persist reading on. After all, only a few pages are left.

So far, we’ve got the background history between Shane and Eva. In the beginning; the yearning and tension was nice and seemed intriguing, but it got exaggerated making it sound debilitating and trite. The physical tension aspect was too overused to be emotionally invested in the story at this point.

Ok just hit chapter 9 and im in loveee🥹🥹🥹. Where was this book my whole life?!!! The writing, the connection between Shane and Eva is immaculately drawn, the writing is so gracefully beautiful. Tia Williams you are a gem, a literary wonder. The emotional connection and tension is just right😍😍😍

Uzma jalaluddin is a literary wonder. This was a completing different premise for me to delve in to; different yet familiar and validating in a way. As a south Asian, delving into this book made me feel at home and the vernacular used in it just hit home for me. It was eye opening and the romance is just 😍

Love the relationship between bowe and carrie!!😆😆that’s probably the one motive that keeps my diving headlong in this book so far. Carrie, as a character, isn’t much relatable to me in terms of her competitiveness but I do resonate with her ambitious nature and her drive to constantly excel. The dedication of her father is what I really admire along with Bowe as a companion 🥹

My first Taylor Jenkins read and I’m enjoying it so far. Albeit I will mention that the story is incredibly fast-paced; almost too much that doesn’t leave time to actually be immersed in the story and actually experience emotional connection with the characters. I mean A: I get to move through the book in one sitting very quickly but it’s not as immersive as I thought it’d be. But I still want to keep reading
