i’m getting frustrated with how much of the book thus far is just flowery waffling. nothing much has happened so far, and what *has* taken place, and is of significance - 1. the ussr being recognised internationally, and 2. the count having a curse placed on him - is not really paid mind to. instead, so much emphasis is placed on tangents about nothing in particular, that actual plot developments feel forgettable.

finally started this months book club pick!! gonna read intermittently throughout the day and when i’m on break at work - i used to love nosleep stories so this is a fun little blast from the past!

i picked this novel up a year ago and only read a few pages before life got in the way. i picked it up again this year and am determined to spend more time reading!!
