i think we need to make it illegal for fantasy authors to romanticize age gap relationships where one side of the pairing isn’t even close to 18. idgaf if this is based on medieval times we didn’t have to make the reyn/malta pairing with such a vast age difference it’s so weird

the parallel of wintrow being the one to ask to cut off his finger to stop the infection and kennit being too cowardly to cut off his leg completely despite the rot

almost 200 pages in, lots of new characters, basic thoughts:
i miss fitz.
althea is so fun, i really love her chapters.
brashen is cool. i can tell he’s being set up with althea, and i am twirling my hair a little. finally a romance i can have fun with.
i miss the fool.
kyle sucks.
kennit SUCKS.
wintrow is perfect, i love a religious young teen trope in fantasy. fitz move over, i have another son

just found out fitz isn’t in this. at all. what the fuck where’s my son

so wild to go from male characters who are decent to women in the first trilogy to kennit. i hope this guy dies why is he a main perspective

already such a different book from the first trilogy - i’m so excited that there’s so many different POVs (main female character let’s go!!) and expanding into the world and politics outside of the six duchies after the war is so interesting
