I honestly, I’m a little confused on why I liked the first book so much. Lucifer is… Not great. He’s keeping her against her will, and is fine with murdering her friends. red flags everywhere. Morally Gray is one thing, but this guy is just evil even towards her with the stabbing and everything.

I was hoping this would turn into a “why choose” series, but apparently we got suckered in by some asshole who dumped us for his true love at the first opportunity. 0/10

When Max put the star to sleep, Lavinia’s power crapped out and she escaped.
When Darius and Max got back, they reported that Lionel’s army is 5x the size they thought.
Gabriel keeps having visions where everyone dies.

SPOILERS:
Lionel totally lost his shit seeing Darius still alive. Clyde, the bad star, had taken on a dude form instead of doppelgängering the twins. Tharix helped them get to the fallen star, and Max put her to sleep for a week. They grabbed the girl Clyde had taken, and dusted outta there.
Meanwhile, Lavinia and the Nymphs attacked the campus and Lav was using star power, which was impossible to defeat.

SPOILERS:
They didn’t spend too long in the city! They each had a trial of sorts, then Gerry found the stone and the city crumbled.

Max lured Darius with his song and they ended up finding Lionel’s camp bc max was sensing the pain of the fallen star they captured. Darius fought his shadow half-brother, Tharix, who ended up saving him from falling to his death. Then, he took them to see Lionel.

I’ve been pleasantly surprised by this book. The story is moving along at a good clip. Nothing has been dragged out too long, which was a real problem in some of the previous books.

SPOILERS:
Geraldine suspects that the last guild stone is hidden in a mythical cursed city that traps and kills anyone who enters it. So, of course they find it and all rush in like idiots, then get immediately separated into pairs and threes. I really hope we don’t spend half the book in here. 😞

SPOILERS:
Darius and Lance secured another guild stone from another fucked up music box, this time with 100% more centaurs. Since the twins put the imperial star back in the meteor, nobody is sure how the stones will help, but Lance’s dad told him where to find 2 stones while Darius was dead. They had to fight a spider for the other one.

Okay, well, the fresh new hell of fallen star doppelgängers is going alright for the moment. They did come back to campus, but only briefly spoke with Geraldine, then left to wreak havoc and murder a bunch of captives, at which point everyone knew they were imposters. Darius reunited with the gang after being dead, everyone is thrilled. The twins busted out of the cave and made their way home.

Oof, this is rough. Their relationship hasn’t moved forward at all, the plot (such that it is) hasn’t moved forward either, and the writing is getting repetitive. I’m kinda over them as a couple.

Really struggling to get through. It felt like the climax was halfway through the book.

This book makes no sense. Still no explanation for why he was such a dick. Why he betrayed her and led her to imprisonment.

I wish I had stopped reading at 82%

So, it was already established that “yielding” in an alpha fight didn’t prohibit the yielder from challenging in the future. But SUDDENLY, the rules changed and now the ~”no challenging back” is a law upheld by magic itself. UGH! Come ON! At least stick to your own worldbuilding rules.

This story feels like it was written by AI.
