after 1 million years (9 months) I'm continuing my reread because i am a prideful judgmental person who is now finding herself v attracted to someone who seems very prideful judgmental himself...

I CANT DO IT I'M GOING TO DNF

I don't rly like this style of writing it's so choppy and so trying to be poetry. IG prose poetry. I can never get into it and inmerse because Cline keeps breaking off. It's like may we feed the king but worse because may we feed the king would actually run through an entire chapter even if it's a short chapter. meanwhile this one has 1 paragraph scenes . Laziness I tell you. As a writer I know it's laziness

Why are contemp litfic authors so obsessed with never having scenes more than 5 paragraphs long????

I really like Lyrics: II so far

oomf is right I also don't like her children's fiction

not that great... usual complaint of contemp novels which is that people are out here using the most boring prose to describe what's already so boring and mundane

1. Kinda incredible how badly this could've gone if it hadn't been between two poets 2. This is written for a very specific type of nerd (the kind who reads academic papers for fun) and unfortunately for everyone that specific type is ME

I just had the worst cake of my life

Handa nako Lord. Draft me into the ranks of Ms. Sitoy's staunchest defenders

bro i'm not gonna finish in time TT

I am highlighting so much and not because I'm making a note to critique it in my review. The complete opposite ! So much delight in this reading experience

I think this says more about me than the book but I genuinely fell asleep reading this just awhile ago... i'm so tired....

I'm sooooooooooo hungry right now TT

I'm really liking this so far

Abangan ang aking review of which there definitely will be one kasi sa unang 40 pages pa lang may konting #reklamo na ako (mostly the Chinese stuff and some formatting nitpicks)

So far this is sinking to the bottom of my ranking

Sukiyaki chapter.. should I kms

She's swinging more strongly into the gothic aspect and I really wish she focused more clearly on this because I love the gothic turn but it's also kinda jarring since she spent so long in the first part Not introducing it

The novel lapsed back into academic writing for an in-verse paper extract and I could almost feel Ms Hau breathing a deep sigh and relaxing into her usual style hfksdfkdf

Naming your Atenean character "Blue" is funny as fuck I'll give her that. Though despite the in-universe explanation for Lia's social awareness I'm still so put off by it. Especially because I've heard of her exact type & have talked with people who are already rich but still less rich than her from UPD, and they are already crazily blithe & uncaring. What more a haciendera girlie?

"simone you should finish your books before starting more of them" NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!! NEVER

Ms Hau ily but you have used the word "deadma" at least ten times already

"MY FAMILY'S SHARECROPPERS" 😭😭😭😭

... thinking of ways and means of getting out, or hiding somewhere out of reach of the dissidents ... anywhere, the farther from home the better, perhaps a leisurely trip around the world to blot out the memory of the nightmare, and finally settling down somewhere in peace and quiet, where everything can be bought for money, including peace of mind and happiness, but far away, a long, long way from home.
