rereading (AGAIN) for book club, I'm excited to annotate everything, especially now that I've finished PJO and HOO

Ohhhh the explosion over the Athena's ghost tweets are delicious

The way this book has me battling with myself internally omg, especially with the one Chinese American asking June why, as a white woman, she wrote the book. I've been having white brain, Asian brain, and anthropology brain babbling at me from all directions and on all fronts of the argument, but I'm really loving how the book has been making me think

This book is really good at getting me frustrated with the narrator lol. Still very much enjoying everything, especially the way June justifies herself throughout this process. Very interesting to me how we're told Athena is such a good writer but June complains about her draft writing constantly - maybe another form of justification for taking over the book?

Just finished the first chapter and I'm very intrigued 👀 I was almost offended for a whole second at a sentence where June calls Athena's name the perfect mix of classic and exotic (or something along those lines, mainly upset about the exotic part) and then I remembered the author is a whole ass Asian woman LMAO
Also how tf did she manage to take the manuscript with all the EMTs/police around ??

I've been getting more into it, I think the portrayal of female rage has helped bc I've been really enjoying the descriptions of Clytemnestra's rage over Iphigenia, Cassandra's dejectedness as no one listens to her, and Elektra's contempt for her mother
Even though I know most of what happens, some of the scenes still have me like "damn, that's fucked up"
