i started reading this shit in like october and never finished lmfaooo. picking it up again and [ SPOILERS AHEAD ] megan can "touch other realities" ??? stfu just make her a telepath or something. time and dimensions being introduced in the later parts of a series NEVER spells anything good. hopefully this will be the exception

getting ahead of myself by a few pages as i will end on 200 tonight. reading this book knowing the plot is so silly bc i dont feel any of the intensity or anticipation. i randomly think how tf have we gotten this far into the book with so little evidence he's actually a VAMPIRE specifically. and his whole "i'm dangerous" thing is just soooo cringey with the stakes we've been given thus far

i'd like to note here that i'm not sure what to do once this book ends. i dont think i'll be ready for sleep or even to begin the next book. i know i say this all the time but mchale's worldbuilding is soooo beautiful. blackwater was absolutely beautiful, certainly comparable to cloral if not better (im more of a forest vice sea gal).

trying to read this book in a panera bread after my work shift was cut almost halfway short and i'm ab to fall the fuck asleep!!!! 150 pages in and only on chapter four is maybe a little crazy but this is a 1k page book. something someone has ordered smells of incense and ham. an odd and honestly confusing scent !!!

donna tartt really knows how to write something heartbreaking!!!! its hard to believe that someone could write these things without experiencing it themselves, maybe she has. or maybe she's just a really great author !!! who knows !!

i am also starting to understand how this book is possibly 1000 pages. 1k seems so small when allathis happens in 66. like i can break it up into 10 parts, and little over a half of one part i've already read. also the way she accurately depicts cops as being ASSHOLES is quite beautiful and made it easier to take a break from the book!

that was probably the most terrifying 12 pages i've read. i dont think i was prepared to witness (imagine) all of that at 1 am. my whole intention of picking up this book was to calm the anxiety i was feeling earlier. while it worked by immersing me in this world, all i can say is jesus fucking christ. excellent writing but what the fuck donna? shit is crazy, had to break away from it to acknowledge this insanity

i've gotten to the explosion and i gotta say i really love the way donna wrote it. mostly focused on other people's reactions, i think its highly realistic. i always wonder how people write sudden action scenarios without telling too much. i guess i have my answer? omission possibly ?

a lovely story indeed!!!! much prefer reading a book like this to watching a movie. i am finding that reading quick stories is much healthier and more stimulating than watching tv/movies or playing video games.

i remember these books from my childhood and they were included in my book palette purchase. perfect one day reread for funsies. quite a fun and cute little story

on page 405 !!! like 10 more pages left, and i find it HILARIOUS that colossus clocking jean straight in the face "knocked some sense" into her and freed her of the phoenix's influence, even for a second. like she deadass said damn peter i felt that shit LMAO

officially entered act 3, at about 300 pages. approx 120 to go and i think i will finish within the next few days, if not the next few hours

i've realized that i'm reading the physical book which is 416 pages, and this is the kindle book listing. which is not as long, so i'm actually only halfway through. and while i fully believe i will enjoy this book in its entirety, im so tired of reading 400 something page books. i think for some reason its just annoying to read 200+ pages and know you're still in the exposition lmfao

loving the tonal shift at the end, but the climax of this book was lame affff and incredibly disappointing. nothing explains why the reality bug was able to affect or become physical matter. also the way it was just a whoopdee doo we're bringing back lifelight !!! lame as hell, and a lame way to "lose" the territory. also only 10 territories in all of halla???? crazy asf. the latter half of this book felt rushed :(
