The book so far has been whimsical, over-the-top, with outlandish claims and cartoonish violence. And now all of a sudden, without changing tone at all, Don Quixote and his squire come across three bodies hanging in the woods, then get surrounded and robbed by a gang, and the narrator cheerfully considers them also being flayed. Very game of thrones if not for the persistent joviality, fascinating times
