I would hereby like to thank Zohran Mamdani and the New York Public Library for making all Game Changers books publicly available with no wait through Valentine’s Day, this is exactly what I needed while snowed in!

Feels SO weird and serendipitous that this is the third book I’ve read in a row that takes place in the DMV without me realizing

So excited for this one, I’ve been heavily anticipating :)

This is such a difficult read. The way that Tia and the other children in this community are forced into fear and shame as tools to keep them obedient and believing in God is genuinely so disturbing. They’re all way too impressionable for this, and it is so clearly laying the groundwork for a lifetime of religious trauma.

Pretty sure I already know what the twist is going to be … it seems really clear who actually killed her family.

not good, as expected. lots of millennial humor (adulting, we did a thing, at least three Katy Perry references already)

I’m so sorry, I had to read the Survivor fan fic book

on pg 28 and realizing I need to give up on this author after this book, the dialogue is garbage, I’m so over the cutesy goofy messy girl and grumpy guy who hates fun trope
