Offred and Ofglen walked past the wall, Ofglen likes going to the wall, but June hates it. They pass Econowives as they walk, Econowives hate Handmaids. Nick talks to her as she walks in, breaking the rules. Rita is never pleased with the food June brings home. As June goes back upstairs, the Commander is in her hallway, and he broke the rules by doing that.

Kamala talked about the release of Paul Whelan and Evan Gershkovich and how she attended Sheila Lee Jackson’s funeral in the same day. She then wrote about how difficult it was to hold interviews for the finalists in her VP decisions. She chose to let CNN know the final ones. She also discussed Trump’s attack that she wasn’t black. She wanted mics to be on at the debate because she knew she could handle Trump.

June and Ofglen walk by the wall. June tells the story of why these men are on the wall. Some weee nurses, and others were doctors. They performed abortions. Hospitals, before Gilead took over, attempted to destroy records to try and protect the doctors. Ofglen started crying while walking by the wall. June said she wouldn’t have given that away.

June and Ofglen arrive to a store. Stores don’t have names anymore, only signs. There is a pregnant handmaid there, her name is Janine. June pieces it together that Janine is there to show off because, pregnant handmaids don’t have to go out like the others. She notes that other handmaids have killed pregnant ones. Tourists from Japan are in town, they ask June and Ofglen if they are happy, June responds with yes

June and Nick had their first interaction, Nick whistled at her as she was walking in the back yard. She had talked about how he hasn’t been assigned a woman. Her walking partner was replaced by Ofglen. Cora and Rita discussed guards accidentally killing a Martha because they thought she was grabbing a bomb. June speaks of teasing the guards with her body, because that’s the only power she has currently.

In the few pages I ready tonight, “June” described her relationship with the Martha, Rita. How they would sit and chat about aches and body pains. But I sensed there was an understanding between them about the situation. She also described arriving the commanders house, how the wife was short with her, and she realized that she had seen the wife before, on the TV before everything happened.

This book is super good so far. June describes the situation with reminders of what the rooms formerly were. How the Handmaids dress in all read, wear wings to hide their face. Anything that could be tied to, like a chandelier, gone. Rita, the Martha wears a faint green, mirrors are basically gone.

In the two chapters read today, Kamala touched on some of her debate prep against Trump. She talked about how the gutter is very low for him. She then discussed her rally that included Megan The Stallion and how Megan is a big philanthropist in Houston. Championing literacy for girls. She said she included Megan in her rally bc she needed ppl who listened to Bruce Springsteen to Lil Wayne.

Jamie and Maya ran into each other at a Ramadan dinner! They talked, and then Maya had a phone call from her father talking about the movers. Once State Sneate candidate Rossum walked in, one of his volunteers asked Maya to canvass. Jamie’s mom and Maya’s mom used to be friends, so they caught up and now they are going canvassing on Friday.

In this part of the book, Harris talked about going to a fundraising event in Massachusetts that was originally planned for the Biden Victory Fund. She recalled seeing the swathes of people and thinking “I cannot fail them”. She also discussed the planning of the convention. She also talked about securing the release of American detainees from Russia that the Biden Admin had been working on.

In the two chapters I read today, Kamala talked about the struggle of supporting our long standing ally, Israel, while trying to advocate for a ceasefire behind the scenes. When she said “how they defend themselves matters” Bibi was furious that she said that. Protesters never went to Trump rallies! She also discussed wanting to pick Pete Buttigieg as her VP, but she was already asking America for a lot.

In this chapter, Kamala talked about how Joe’s team fueled negative stories about her while she was VP. They never defended her when media made fun of her laugh or mannerisms. They gave her impossible tasks like being in charge of migration, they never defended her when the GOP lied and said she was the Boarder Czar. Joe’s team would get mad bc she spoke better than Joe, they dimmed her down.

Kamala talked about how she came up with her slogan “We Are Not Going Back” at a rally in Milwaukee. The crowd chanted it back, unprompted. That’s when the slogan solidified. Doug had a hard time, because DC isn’t designed for male spouses. They were invited to The White House for 4th of July with the Biden’s, Jill snipped at Doug saying “Are you supporting us?” Now they wanted her by Biden’s side?

Ended chap two! That chapter ended heavy with the discussion of how campaigns are ran differently depending on jurisdiction, that’s because campaigns use public records, & public record laws vary by place. Also talks about how if party affiliation is on pub. voter regs. they will try to motivate their base. In states that race is in public record, POC will turn out more because they are more targeted by campaigns.

Still on solar. Discussed Trough Power Plants, that use reflective mirrors to heat an oil like substance that goes and heats a turbine. The Tower is a set of mirrors tracking the sun and reflecting the light to a tower, molten salt carries the heat away, causes steam and turns a turbine. The Dish, like the tower, directs sunlight to an engine that runs on solar. Also discussed how solar can heat water.

Maya was introduced this chapter. She was shopping at Target with her friend Sara. Sara has been busy all summer and all school year. Maya’s parents are separating, and Maya has been really wanting to confide in Sara about it. After Target, Maya went home to have a family meeting. Her Dad is moving out the next day, Maya is super upset about it and snaps back at her parents a few times.

So far in this chapter Kamala talked about wanting to have her first campaign event in Wilmington, Delaware bc Joe’s team had worked so hard. She talked about keeping Joe’s staff because there just wasn’t enough time to create her own. Jill returned Doug’s call a day after Joe dropped out. She talks about having a respect for Joe, but also being hurt and disappointed by him. She had her first even in Delaware

So far Jamie and Sophie (his sister) knocked down a bunch of oranges at Target getting snacks for Rossum’s State Senate Campaign. Their mom works for State Senator Matthew’s. They dropped the snacks off and Gabe tried to get Jamie to do some phone banking and canvassing, he didn’t want to. Their mom is planning Sophie’s bat mitzvah, and they want Jamie to do a speech and he does not want to.

I really just cannot get enough of this book already. Today we read about how her sister’s husband, Tony, had already prepared the “red files” for if something were to happen to Joe. She also touched on her calls after Joe made the announcement. Whitmer said she needed time, Wes Moore said she’d always been loyal. Clinton’s were excited. Nancy Pelosi wanted there to be a process but she was all in on Harris

This book is SO FREAKING GOOD. Started off with the day Joe Biden called her, she had zero idea that Joe Biden was going to drop out. She was with her nieces and she wanted him to endorse her right away. Him and his team didn’t want to. She also talked about the debate, and how his team wanted her to say that “Joe won” the debate. Joe & Jill didn’t want the debate to happen, his team did, and convinced him.

In the pages I’ve read so far it’s been about solar energy. Talking about how the energy we get from the sun comes from photons & they provide a lot of energy. Professor said “square yard of desert gets as much energy as a barrel of oil”. Arizona desert could be key. There have been projects in the UK on storage. It’s cost competitive with oil reserves. It has been used in the past like at the Santa Maria.

I started the book tonight and got through the first couple of pages. So far, Jamie is at the supermarket with his little sister getting snacks for Gabe (the assistant campaign manager) for a phone bank. His sister is saying how the fruit have nipples. As this is happening, 2 girls walk in. Jamie is staring at one of them hardcore. As he turns around and grabs the fruit, the whole tower comes down.

Read about how campaigns get into contact with voters. Main one is canvassing. Then we moved into another chapter talking about campaigns gaining knowledge on voters, and shortcuts. Knowing “encyclopedic” knowledge of voters is hard 4 a presidential campaign but 4 local races it’s doable. 💭 mix of poll watching, social media posts, canvassing, media stories, local info, voters who don’t get reached out to.

Nate was arrested & Bronwyn got, Eli, the advocate to represent him. The group has been getting together piecing together events. Coopers boyfriend made the connection that Simon may have killed himself. Janae confirmed that and Jake kept it going trying to frame Addy bc Simon told him she cheated. Jake got dirt on Simon, bc he found out Simon rigged votes for homecoming, so Si told Jake about Add & TJ to distract.

Cooper was outed by the Bayview police and the entire school found out about it, there was a big showdown in the cafeteria, Bronwyn kissed Nate in front of the entire school. Then the four of them met inside a house and tried to talk about who did it, they started to talk about Janae. Then Nate is arrested for the murder. I am interested to see what happens next because there’s no way Nate did it.

A lot has happened in the book so far. Janae has been acting SUPER suspicious, so I think she could be added to the suspects too. Her weird emotions over Simon, I don’t know. Addy had Janae over it the vibes were weird. Nate and his mom had dinner and Nate abruptly left. Cooper had to come out to his dad about Kris & him because the politics found an encrypted file that had that secret.

Tonight i just got through the preface of this book. I’m excited to dive into climate change, this is a little bit of an older read from 2010. In the preface the author talked about the importance of switching to renewable energy. He mentioned how there’s a 1% sun spot in the Saharan Desert that could power the world. He also mentioned biofuels, wind, solar, geothermal, etc.

just got through the prologue, and wow. learning more about Whitman has been awesome and im only 7 pages in. he was a man trying to serve a higher purpose, of bringing people together, opening that “third eye”. he dived into his community, and the big picture is that the community will pour into you, as much as you did to it. super excited to into this book more

Okay so we are now on part 3 of the book, and wow, some wild turns. Bronwyn and Nate finally kissed, the detective also pulled her in for more questioning due to a comment she made on Simone’s post. Addy is finally finding her voice. Nate’s mom came back. And Cooper has a secret gay LOVER?? Right now i think Jake could have something to do with the murder, but I don’t know
