I want to quit so much of this book. Read if you read Kincaid.

This is captivating

After reading Book 1 I immediately start collecting his books. I now have fifteen of his books so the love affair continues. I truly enjoyed The Morning Star and excited that the fourth book in that series is out, hurry to the US please.

Read this. First read Lolita then my Dark Vanessa then this. OMG.

Young and enjoying life with friends amongst the fires in the neighborhood. Will her family stay or leave?

I cried. I loved the love and broken heartedness of this "family" as Miriam said they were. Oh I boo hoo'd like this was my family and y'all, my people, it is us. Love.

Really good, the artist did an amazing job with how vibrant the illustration is.

Depression is a beast. This was beyond sad.

Very emotionally confused and exhausted listening to this. The poet is all of those things and it translates into your soul.

I think I should read the physical copy, the narrator on the audiobook is too much of a performance and sometimes that's okay. I just don't feel like hearing her voice right now.

This is a library check out, but I think I will purchase it because I know I would like to reread this.

This is definitely Morgan Jerkins calling, nonfiction and American History, especially for African American people. I literally cried during parts of this. While researching information for my father's family in South Carolina with his same last name appears in this book.

There are so many books and streaming services that all have this element of our bodies regenerating into fully healed humans. What makes this different? The caul.

Amazing to hear a black woman tell her raw real.

Those who don't like the title don't understand that it is the entirety of the experience of being a Black human woman in white America. When something isn't written for you in mind you don't like it. Thus telling our stories as real and raw as our life experience is, well this could be our undoing. If you still don't understand, well as we used to say, it's a black thing, you wouldn't understand.

This collection of short stories and an essay was hard core. Richard Wright will make sure death wether it a black or white person it's steeped in the racism that bleeds through America like an eternal evil force. I also enjoy these audiobooks of his works because it provides where these original works are housed, all prestigious ivy league schools. Hmmph.

Listening in my car and reading at home after work. Brutal. America is a sick place.
