I now understand the feeling that academia boys get when they feel the need to brag to everyone about how they smothered a book with their annotations.

It can feel so validating and invigorating to be seen in a text, to engage with it in a meaningful way. To be in conversation with hooks’ ideas in this book is so healing.

Finished Chapter 1.

I like the protagonist’s voice and their dismissive attitude towards others. I love a mean and snarky protagonist, especially when I get to learn about the “why,” which the author gives you in this first chapter.

Some really compelling world building with a few questionable decisions that feel lowkey a little racist, but I’ll save that for later.

going to barnes & noble after seeing Black Panther: Wakanda Forever….. was a mistake.

but also a blessing in disguise. because with this 135-page book, achieving this year’s reading goal is now possible again.

but this vampire thriller turned legal drama story? actually really juicy to read.
