A horrifying part in the book is when the guards would treat a duck that they had in the prison. While at the prison Louie and the other POWs were forced to watch some horrific things done to a duck named Gaga, Text says, "Shithead [one of the most vicious guards] opened his pants and violated the bird” (224). This shows how absolutely awful the conditions in these prisons were and how traumatizing they could be.

One unjust part in the story is how the POWs in Kwajalein("Death Island") are treated. When Phil and Louie were brought to Kwajalein they get to know how the prisoners are treated everyday. The text says, "“The guards used the captives to impress each other with their cruelty” (182). This proves how harsh these prisons were and how the guards find it impressive to beat the heck out of the prisoners.

One crazy part of the story is when Sargant James Reynolds was rescued after 34 days at sea! After their plane crashed Louie and 2 other men survived for more than a month on a raft. The text says, "They felt as if they were on fire, The men's scalded skin cracked and their lips ballooned, bulging against their chins."(112). The shows how battered and bruised these men were during this horrific experience.

One part I thought was interesting is that Louie was seconds off the mile world record. In the spring of 1938 Louie had his mile time down to 4:13.7, seven seconds off the world record. The Glenn Cunningham said, "That's the next mile champion, when he concentrates on this distance he'll be unbeatable"(41). This proves that Louie wasn't just a "good" runner. He was one of the best, and was coming for the title.

A disappointing part in the story is when another R.A.D student makes a racist comment towards Drew. When Drew finishes his basketball game with 25 points another student makes an interesting comment. The text says, "Well of course he's good, just look at him"(104). This proves that the students of R,A,D are either not taught about respect or just don't care.

A disappointing part in the story is when Drew starts his first day at RAD he is stereotyped by histeacher. After Drew walks into his new school and finds his homeroom his teacher profiles him as a troublemaker. The text says, "Do I have a Deandre here?" "I used to have a Deandre, hopefully your not like him, you guys are always trouble"(47). This proves that the RAD teachers don't care about it's students.

One feel good part in the story was when everyone is getting there year books. At the end of the year on the last day of school Jordan sees that his painting is on the cover of every year book. The text says, "The yearboo- wait, is that my painting"(233). This shows that even though Jordan had a rough start to his middle school days, his story ended with a happy ending.

An awkward part of the story is when Jordan corrects his Washington Heights friends grammar and they don't understand. When Jordan is playing basketball with some friends one of then says "come on, we're playing terrible". The text says "Actually your playing terriBLY"(162). "I meant the word is terribly, its an adverb so it modifies the.."(163). This shows that R.A.D is changing Jordan into a "Private School kid"

A funny part in the story is when Jordan's parents tell Alexandria's parents how much he likes her. When R.A.D has a parents night, Jordan's parents tell Alexandria's parents that he likes to be around her, mistaking her with his other friend Alex. He then freaks out at school in front of her. The text says, "Wait no, they said they talked to Alex's parents"(99). This shows that Jordan doesn't want to be her friend.

A disappointing part in the book is when a teacher at RAD mistakes Mr. Gardner with Coach Rick. When Mr. Gardner checks up on how Jordan is being treated another teacher walks by and mistakes him for the coach since the are both black. The teacher says "Good Luck coach Rick, hope we go undefeated"(61). This proves that even some adults in the book don't even care to know their colleagues just because they are black.

One disappointing part in the story is when Citra goes to visit her family. After wanting to find the footage of what happened to scythe Faraday she goes to see her family to take pictures to narrow down the search. "anything she uploaded would be available to her. which meant she could seed the search"(231). This proves that Citra deep down doesn't want to see her family, and only wants to find out scythe Faraday.

A shocking part in the story is when the scythes make Citra and Roman fight for the apprentice spot and killing the looser. When the Scythes have a meeting they make a rule for Scythe Faraday to chose between Citra or Roman and kill the other. The text says,"They will find whatever button will make you dance, and dance you will"(156). This shows that maybe Scythes don't always care about non-scythes.

One funny part was when the Scythe came to Citra's house. When a scythe randomly shows up everyone in the house is expecting to be gleened ;however; the scythe is really just stopping for a meal before he kills Citra's neighbor. The story says "And finally he told them the truth, I'm hear to gleen your neighbor Bridget Chadwell"(13). This shows that scythes are humans too and like to joke around as much as the next.

Harry is finished with The Hunger Games (The Hunger Games, #1)
One part of the story that was honestly depressing was when Katniss and Peeta are riding home and Katniss admits to only faking her feelings for him just for the capitol and to get more sponsors. In the text it says "It was all for the games", "How you acted"(372). This proves that Peeta really did have genuine feelings for Katniss; however, Katniss doesn't feel the same.

One revolting part of the story was when Katniss finds Peeta and treats to his wounds. After the game makers make the rule that if two people from the same district are the lat two alive they both can win, Katniss tries to find Peeta after he has been wounded by Cato. In the text it says "Pus begins to run down the side of his leg"(257). This shows how completely disgusting Peeta's injuries are.

An important part in the story is when Katniss and Rue team up. After Katniss wakes up from being stung by tracker jackers she is cooking the bird she had shot when Rue comes out behind a tree. Katniss offers an alliance and she takes it. The text says,"Taking Rue on as an ally seems a better choice all the time"(204). This proves Katniss making Rue an ally is a wise decision.

A surprising part in the story is when Katniss finds out Peeta has formed an alliance with the career tributes. Katniss is awaken by the career tributes hooting and hollering about how the killed another tribute when someone shushes the group, And it's Peeta. The text says "Seeing all those supplies was tempting but this is another thing"(154). This proves that Katniss was caught of guard by Peeta's back stabbing.

A favorite part in the book is Peeta and Katniss make their entrance to the City center. At every hunger Games the tributes ride to the Capital's city center wearing outfits that reflect their district. Katniss and Peeta's were the best by far. The text says, "The people of the capital are going nuts, showering us with flowers and calling our names"(70). This shows this was important so the two could get sponsored.

A sad part in the book is when Primrose Everdeen gets chosen for the Hunger Games. In chapter one, the names are being called to be the tributes of District 12 and the main character Katniss Everdeen's little sister who is only twelve years old gets chose. The text says "It was as if the impact knocked every wisp of air from my lungs"(21). This proves that she impacted by her little sister being chosen as a tribute.

Mrs. Jones was empathetic. Rodger, tries to steal Mrs. Jones's purse to get himself new shoes. She ends up taking him home and teaching him a lesson. In the text it says "I have done things, too, which I would not tell you, son-neither god if he didn't already know"(3). This shows that Mrs. Jones was empathetic because even though Rodger tried to steal her purse, she still put herself in his shoes.

Harry is finished with The Jacket
A disappointing part of the story was when the narrator got a jacket that looked nothing like he described to his mom. He had described a black leather jacket but unfortunately and got him an ugly jacket instead. The text says "I discovered draped on my bed post a jacket that was the color of day old guacamole"(1). This shows that the narrator was underwhelmed with receiving the opposite of what he had described
